Reliable Salvage Farming
How to consistently farm every rarity tier — from Standard to Prestige — using Materialist and endgame events.
The Materialist System
Materialist is a perk that can appear on equipment. Each item you bring into a run that has Materialist — whether equipped or in your backpack — adds +1 to Standard and Enhanced salvage stacks when you successfully exfil.
Materialist+ is the higher-tier version. Each item with Materialist+ adds +1 to Deluxe and Superior salvage stacks on exfil. Both versions stack with every additional copy you carry.

Each Materialist item adds +1 to each applicable salvage stack — a flat base increase, not a multiplier.
Farming with Materialist+
Materialist+ is the go-to method for farming Deluxe salvage required for high-tier crafting recipes. The more copies you carry per run, the faster you accumulate what you need.
Example: Farming UESC Obedience Matrices
UESC Obedience Matrices are a Deluxe-tier eccentric salvage dropped by UESC enemies and Priority Hostiles. They're required by CyberAcme for crafting — most notably for Deluxe Key Templates.
Run Efficiency by Item Count
- 01Stock up on Materialist+ items — loot them mid-run or acquire them however you can.
- 02Carry as many as possible; stash extras in your backpack to still trigger the bonus.
- 03Exfil successfully — the bonus triggers on extraction. Your stash will be updated immediately post-run.
- 04Check your recipe progress on the Deluxe Key Template page and repeat.
Prestige Salvage Farming
Prestige salvage is the rarest material tier in Marathon, outside of whatever Contraband items might exist. There are currently four Prestige salvage types, each valued at ◎ 2,500. Getting them reliably requires targeted farming strategies.

Anomaly Event — Dire Marsh
The Anomaly event is currently the most reliable repeatable method for farming Prestige salvage. Upon completing the event and successfully exfilling from Dire Marsh, you have a chance to receive Prestige-tier materials added to your stash.
- 01Load into Dire Marsh and locate the Anomaly event marker.
- 02Complete the Anomaly event.
- 03Once complete, prioritize routing to the nearest exfil point. Don't overextend for additional loot.
- 04Exfil successfully — Prestige salvage chance is applied at exfil.
- 05Repeat. Consistent runs compound quickly even at non-100% drop rates.
Prestige Locked Rooms
Across the maps, certain rooms are locked behind Prestige-tier credentials or keys. These rooms contain a higher concentration of Prestige salvage and are worth targeting if you already have the required access item.
